becoming gourmet

a light hearted chronicle of my culinary ideas and adventures

The Girl Behind the Blog

June12

My name is Natalie Cummings, and I’m a thirty something food enthusiast (aka. foodie!) with the great fortune to live in one of the most vibrant culinary communities in the world, the San Francisco Bay Area. To say I have a passion for food would be an understatement. I have hundreds of cookbooks, have watched even more TV shows on how to cook … everything, and have taken many weeknight and weekend gourmet classes both near and far. I have had the opportunity to sample foods from some of the world’s best chefs running the gamut from a nine-course meal from Thomas Keller of The French Laundry in Napa, CA, to the best ceviché I have ever tasted from street vendor in Mulegé, Mexico! My most recent culinary adventure was a week long culinary boot camp at the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, Califoria! What a BLAST!

I started cooking a little later in life, so I won’t declare myself any sort of culinary expert, but you can join me on the road to becoming gourmet.

Mangia! Natalie Cummings
